Letting Go to Move Forward
How Embracing Change and Letting Go Can Lead to New Beginnings.
There’s an old saying: “A child isn’t raised by their parents alone, but by their tribe—friends, neighbors, and family.” I’ve heard it countless times, but in the past few weeks, I’ve come to understand its depth in ways I never imagined.
You see, life recently opened a new chapter for me—one that I didn’t step into alone, but with the unwavering support of my tribe. This realization has been humbling, grounding, and, above all, filled with immense gratitude.
When I think back on the moments that led here, it’s not just the milestone itself that stands out. It’s the people who showed up for me, who gathered, called, texted, and celebrated in ways big and small. There’s a unique kind of joy that comes from looking around and seeing the faces of those who believe in you, who cheer for you, and who root for your success. It’s a reminder that no matter how independent we might think we are, our greatest achievements are woven from the threads of connection.
And then there were the ones who couldn’t be there in person but still made their presence felt. Through their words, financial support, their prayers, or their quiet encouragement (from consistently checking in), they reminded me that support comes in many forms. It’s not always loud or visible, but it’s just as powerful. This, more than anything, rekindled my belief in the strength of we and us over I.
How did I get here? What steps led to this outpouring of love and unity? Honestly, I don’t know the exact formula. I don’t think anyone ever does. But whatever path I’ve been on, it’s one paved with gratitude, and for that, I’m endlessly thankful. It’s clear to me now that the love and care we give to others often come back to us in ways we can’t foresee.
Looking back, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of life, focusing on goals, deadlines, and what’s next. But moments like this remind me that taking stock of how far we’ve come is just as important as planning for the future. Sometimes, it’s only when we pause and reflect that we truly see the distance we’ve covered—and the people who helped us along the way.
So, as I stand on the threshold of what’s to come, I do so with a deep sense of gratitude for life, wisdom, and health. I’m reminded that every step forward is not just mine to take but is shared with the tribe that walks beside me.
This is just the beginning of my reflections—a quiet moment to look back before looking forward. I’m learning that by understanding where I’ve been, I can better envision where I’m headed. And for that, I thank God.
